Mim’s first remuneration was five thousand taka; what is her fee now?
BanglaPress Desk: The amount of one’s first paycheck in an acting career might not be very large, yet for many stars, that initial earning remains a cherished memory. Actress Bidya Sinha Mim still holds onto that memory with great care. Having transitioned from television dramas to the silver screen, her profile and the scope of her work have grown significantly over time; however, the early days have not been forgotten. Here is the story of Bidya Sinha Mim’s first paycheck.
Bidya Sinha Mim’s acting career began on the small screen. Before gaining recognition in cinema, she had a unique experience: acting in a drama directed by the late author and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed. It was from this project that she received her first remuneration—a sum of 5,000 taka. Mim has shared that she still carefully preserves that money, which she received from Humayun Ahmed. This memory is deeply intertwined with the early days of her acting journey. Winning the ‘Lux’ beauty pageant opened new doors for her in the world of acting.

She started with modeling, which eventually led to opportunities in television dramas. Acting in the drama ‘Rahasya’ (Mystery), directed by Humayun Ahmed, was one of her earliest projects. The 5,000 taka she earned for this drama was her very first paycheck. In a later interview, Mim mentioned that she had given that money to her mother. Nevertheless, because it was her first-ever payment—received from none other than Humayun Ahmed—the memory of that money remains especially significant to her.
The path was not easy.
However, Mim’s journey into the entertainment industry began even earlier. In 2007, she participated in and won the ‘Lux-Channel i Superstar’ competition. Prior to the pageant, she had spent nearly two years trying to break into the media industry. Although she received acting offers early on, she was determined to secure lead or heroine roles. At one point, she was even offered a role playing the sister of actor Zahid Hasan, but she declined. Later, in her debut film, she would go on to work alongside Zahid Hasan as her co-star. Acting in Her First Film

In 2008, Mim made her big-screen debut in Humayun Ahmed’s film *Amar Ache Jol*. She considers the opportunity to act in this film a turning point in her life. Working with such a renowned filmmaker right at the start of her career boosted her self-confidence. At the time, she was a newcomer, while her co-stars were already well-established actors in the country. Mim later recalled that Humayun Ahmed helped her overcome her initial hesitation.
Current RemunerationFollowing the release of *Amar Achhe Jol*, Mim’s performance earned her critical acclaim. The film brought her recognition in the film industry, and in 2009, her second film, *Amar Praner Priya*, was released. Subsequently, she appeared in various other films, including *Jonakir Alo*, *Tarkata*, *Ittefaq*, *Antarjal*, *Padma Patar Jol*, *Poran*, and *Damal*. Reports from last year indicated that the actress currently charges over 1.5 million (15 lakh) BDT per film. Notably, she received 300,000 (3 lakh) BDT for her very first film.
