AIUB leads in winning individual awards

Bangla Press Desk: At the Bashundhara Kings Arena, Daffodil International University celebrated their championship victory by hoisting the trophy. However, the ‘ABG University Cup 2026’ awards ceremony was not solely dominated by the champions; players from the runners-up, AIUB, also received recognition for their individual performances. Following the final, awards were presented to the tournament’s top performers. Throughout the competition, Daffodil’s Yunusa Abubakar displayed exceptional skill in the midfield and attacking third. In the final, his stellar performance not only secured the title for his team but also earned him the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Furthermore, in recognition of his consistent performance throughout the entire tournament, he was named the ‘Most Valuable Player’ (MVP). With these two accolades, the Daffodil footballer made the tournament a truly memorable one.
Meanwhile, despite missing out on the championship title, the runners-up, AIUB, excelled in the individual award categories. Their forward, Akkas Ali, emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with 6 goals—a tally that kept opposing defenses under constant pressure.
AIUB’s Mehedi Hasan proved to be a reliable presence between the posts, pulling off several impressive saves to earn the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award. Additionally, Rashedul Islam, also from AIUB, was honored as the ‘Best Defender’ for his steadfast performance in the backline.
With Daffodil International University clinching the championship and AIUB players shining through their individual achievements, the ‘ABG University Cup 2026’ concluded successfully, highlighted by the outstanding performances from both teams.
