Bangla Press Desk: National Consensus Commission (NCC) Vice President Prof Ali Riaz has highlighted four proposals made by “experts” for implementing the July Charter before the national elections are held in February.
The measures proposed are: interim government's ordinance issuance, executive order, referendum and special constitutional order, he said in inaugural speech during a meeting with representatives from 29 political parties at the Foreign Service Academy on Wednesday.
The NCC is working on extra time to reach a consensus with all political parties for implementing the state reform measures to be enshrined in the July Charter. On Monday, the commission’s tenure was extended by a month to 15 October.
While political parties have agreed to over 80 state reform recommendations under the July Charter framework, they are at odds over implementing them before the elections. The July Charter itself is yet to be finalised amid continued disagreements among political parties over a few more crucial state reform recommendations.
