Train hits man dead in Chattogram’s Sholoshahar
Bangla Press Desk: A man has been killed while a child got injured after being hit by a train in Sholoshahar, Chattogram.
Police said the incident occurred on Friday afternoon when the Parjatak Express train, travelling from Dhaka via Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar, hit them.
Chattogram Railway Police Station chief Sujan Kanti Dey told bdnews24.com that preliminary information suggests the man was killed when he ran to save the child from being hit by the train as the child was walking on the railway tracks.
“Our police personnel are at the scene and are trying to collect the names and addresses [of those involved],” he said.
Locals said that after attending prayers at noon, a man was walking along the railway tracks with two children.
One of the children let go of his hand and moved ahead. As the Parjatak Express train approached, a person who was beside the railway line ran to save the child.
The approximately 55-year-old man was struck by the train and died at the scene, while the child sustained serious injuries.
