Bangla Press Desk: Legendary folk singer Farida Parveen was laid to eternal rest at the municipal graveyard in Kushtia town on Sunday night. She was buried in the same grave where her father Delwar Hossain and mother Roufa Begum had been laid to rest. Hundreds of people, including Kushtia Deputy Commissioner Abu Hasnat Mohmmad Arafin, Superintendent of Police Md Mizanur Rahman, as well as political, social, and cultural activists, attended a namaz-e-janaza of the Lalon singer at the graveyard around 7:45pm. Before the funeral prayer, her body was taken to the shrine of Fakir Lalon Shah at Chheuriya where the celebrated artist was paid homage.
Earlier in the day, people from all walks of life paid their last respects to the legendary singer as her body was brought to the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the capital. Later, a namaz-e-janaza was held at the Dhaka University Central Mosque. Following the janaza, the body was taken to Kushtia. Farida Parveen, 71, breathed her last at a hospital in the capital on Saturday night after battling kidney complications. She is survived by her husband and four children.

After Moksed Ali’s demise, she further honed her skills under Khoda Baksh Sain, Brajen Das, Behal Sain, Yasin Sain, and Karim Sain. Farida Parveen’s contribution to Lalon music is recognised not only in Bangladesh but internationally.
