Bedbugs bite Bangladesh camp
Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh women's team head coach Peter James Butler has been forced to seek medical treatment on the eve of the SAFF Championship final after a severe bedbug infestation in his hotel room left him covered in painful bites.
The British tactician was left deeply uncomfortable on Wednesday night at the supposedly luxurious Planet Hollywood Beach Resort in South Goa.
What was meant to be, a restorative night's sleep instead resulted in Butler suffering extensive, severe bites across his hands and body, ultimately making him physically ill.
With his squad enjoying a scheduled Thursday rest day of ice baths and light recovery following their semi-final triumph over Nepal, Butler’s preparations took a bizarre and painful turn.
Team management hurriedly escorted the manager to a nearby clinic in the afternoon, where doctors treated the severe welts and prescribed medication before clearing him to return to the camp.
Officials have since stepped in to relocate Butler to a new room to ensure his recovery.
Bangladesh have been stationed at the seaside resort alongside host nation India and Nepal since 21 May, enjoying an otherwise seamless campaign.
Now, ahead of a high-voltage tournament decider, the camp will be desperately hoping their manager's unexpected hotel horror story does not derail their momentum.
