BanglaPress Desk: Due to a system upgrade for prepaid electricity meters, recharge services may be temporarily unavailable or disrupted for a continuous 24-hour period. Dhaka Electricity Supply PLC (DESCO) has advised customers to recharge their meters with a sufficient balance well in advance to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during this time.
The electricity distribution company issued this advisory in an urgent notice published on Wednesday morning (November 4).
The notice states that, owing to the prepaid system upgrade, recharge operations may face temporary disruptions from 10:00 PM on Thursday (November 5) until 10:00 PM on Friday (November 6).
However, this potential disruption does not apply to all prepaid meter users. DESCO has clarified that only customers whose prepaid meter numbers begin with '03' may be affected.
Consequently, DESCO has requested that these customers top up their meters with the necessary amount in advance, anticipating the possibility that they might be unable to recharge during the specified period. This will ensure that electricity usage remains unaffected, even if recharge services are temporarily unavailable during the upgrade.
Meanwhile, for any issues related to recharging or other inquiries, customers are advised to contact DESCO at 16120 or 16999.
DESCO has expressed its regret to customers for any temporary inconvenience caused by the system upgrade.
