Bangla Press Desk: Fatema Tuz Johora, the mother of July uprising martyr Abdullah Bin Jahid, was on Tuesday assured of a government job by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman during a meeting at his office in the parliament complex.
Fatema was accompanied by her younger son, Mahmudullah Bin Jisan, who is undergoing treatment for cancer.
The prime minister enquired about Jisan’s condition and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the bereaved family, according to Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Md Suzauddhowla Sujon Mahmud.
Agriculturist Md Moksedul Momin (Mithun), member secretary of Amra BNP Poribar, was also present.
Abdullah Bin Jahid was killed after being shot on the night of 5 August 2024 during the July uprising.
The family suffered further tragedy when Jisan was diagnosed with cancer just two weeks after his brother’s death. Seven months later, Fatema’s husband also died, leaving the family in severe financial hardship.
While serving as BNP acting chairman from London, Tarique Rahman extended financial support to help cover Jisan’s treatment costs. Since then, the treatment has been overseen by Atikur Rahman Ruman, then convener of Amra BNP Poribar and now additional press secretary to the prime minister.
The prime minister has regularly monitored Jisan’s progress through Ruman, and the treatment has continued under his supervision.
