June 28 Marked for Vitamin A Supplementation Drive
Bangla Press Desk: A daylong nationwide Vitamin A campaign will be held on June 28 to protect the children aged between six to 59 months from blindness and malnutrition. The event will run from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on the day.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain will inaugurate the campaign through a programme at the Abu Sayeed Convention Centre in the capital's Shahbag area on the day.
More than 23.5 million children will come under the campaign coverage, Deputy Director of Institute of Public Health Nutrition Dr. Rawshan Zahan Akhter Alo told the FE.
Of them, over 2.8 million children aged six months to 11 months will be fed blue-coloured Vitamin A capsules, and over 20.5 million children aged 12 months to 59 months will be fed red-coloured Vitamin A capsules, she added.
Besides, a round of child-to-child searching activities will be carried out in remote areas in 12 districts for four days after the campaign.
"All the preparations have been taken. Necessary capsules have already been distributed to the upazila authorities from the institute's storage. The campaign will be conducted from the EPI booths along with other official and temporary booths," she added.
