Manowara Sent to Two-Day Remand Over Proxy Allegations

Bangla Press Desk: A Dhaka court on Sunday placed Manowara Begum, who allegedly appeared in court as a proxy for an accused in a cheque dishonour case, on a two-day remand for questioning.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ariful Islam passed the order after hearing a remand petition filed by the investigating officer, prosecution department Sub-Inspector Kamrul Islam said.
According to the case details, government employee Nibedita Ahmed Tuli filed the cheque dishonour case on 23 March 2025 over an alleged Tk29 lakh cheque.
On 25 June, Manowara Begum was produced before the court as a proxy for the original accused, Nasrin Sikder, in the case.
The alleged impersonation was detected shortly afterwards, and police took Manowara into custody.
Later that night, the court's Bench Assistant Md Ibrahim Khalil Apu filed a case against the original accused, Nasrin Sikder, the alleged proxy accused Manowara Begum, and lawyer Md Hammad Emdad Hossain.' Source: daily Sun
