PM to Visit JM Sen Hall Puja Mandap on October 20
BanglaPress Desk: Prime Minister Tareq Rahman is scheduled to visit the historic JM Sen Hall Puja Mandap in Chattogram on October 20. Preparations for this visit are underway by both the administration and the BNP.
Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah stated that maximum preparations are being made for the Prime Minister’s visit, with the administration taking all necessary steps to ensure it proceeds smoothly and without any disruptions.
Mahbubur Rahman Shamim, Organizing Secretary of the BNP Central Committee (Chattogram Division) and Administrator of the Chattogram District Council, confirmed that the Prime Minister’s visit has been finalized. Preparations are being coordinated with relevant stakeholders to ensure the visit is conducted in an orderly and well-organized manner.
Biplab Dey Partha, Executive General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Sri Sri Janmashtami Udjapan Parishad Bangladesh, remarked that this marks the first time a Prime Minister is visiting Chattogram to exchange greetings for the Sharadiya Durga Puja—a source of great pride for the city. He noted that the Prime Minister’s vision of building a "rainbow nation" adds significant meaning to this visit, bringing great joy to the Sanatani (Hindu) community in Chattogram and across the country. The premises of the Jatrimohan Sen Gupta (JM Sen) Hall, located in the city’s Rahmatganj area, serve as a primary hub for Durga Puja celebrations in Chattogram. Each year, the festival is organized here on a central scale, featuring both religious rituals and cultural programs, which transform the Puja Mandap into a meeting place for people from all walks of life.
JM Sen Hall was established in 1920 by Deshapriya Jatindramohan Sen Gupta in memory of his father, Jatrimohan Sen Gupta. This historic site shares a deep connection with the anti-British movement, political struggles, and progressive cultural activities.
