Bangla Press Desk:   All the general educational boards across the country will use the same question papers in the upcoming higher secondary certification (HSC) examinations, said Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Thursday.

Same question papers will also be used across the country in the secondary school certificate (SSC) exams from next year, the minister added while addressing reporters at the Secretariat.

Explaining the rationale, the minister said that there is often a comparison among the nine general education boards over the difficulty levels of their exams and the qualifications of students acing the tests.

It is reported that some education boards generally formulate easier questions in the SSC and HSC exams compared with other boards, the minister noted.

This creates ambiguity in assessing the students’ qualifications, and sows inconsistency in the country’s education system.

In O-level and A-level exams, the same questions papers are used for a subject across the country.

To this end, the government has decided to adopt the same policy for general education boards in the greater interest of the students and the education system, Ehsanul Hoque Milon told reporters.

The questions papers have already been sent to all the concerned upazilas for the HSC exams set to start 2 July, the minister said.

In case of natural disasters, emergency measures have already been adopted, and when the measures are enacted, the question papers will stay secured in the respective exam centres, said Ehsanul Hoque Milon.

He also said that admission tests at the first grade will be a nominal event, and the children will not need preparatory coaching to take part in a “hectic contest.” Source: daily Sun
