Bangla Press Desk: Three people, including a child, were killed after being electrocuted in Chapainawabganj's Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning, police said.
The fatal incident occurred in the Baroghoria-Badurtala area, according to Ekramul Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, and Harunur Rashid, chairman of Baroghoria Union Parishad.
The deceased were identified as Hasina Begum, wife of Mohammad Bhikhu of Badurtala, her niece Asha Khatun, and Asha's daughter, Mim.
According to police and local authorities, a metal ladder at the house became electrically charged after being exposed to rain.
Asha Khatun and her daughter were electrocuted while attempting to climb the ladder. Hasina Begum rushed to rescue them but was also electrocuted and died at the scene.Police recovered the bodies after being informed of the incident.
Officer-in-Charge Ekramul Hossain said legal proceedings were underway, adding that an investigation has been launched into the incident.
