2 US soldiers killed in Iranian missile attack in Jordan
Bangla Press Desk: At least two US soldiers were killed and another is missing after an Iranian ballistic missile and drone attack on an air base in Jordan, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed.
The US Department of Defense said another service member was missing since Friday's attack.
On Saturday, CENTCOM said four wounded US soldiers were rescued and rushed to a hospital in Jordan. They have since been released after treatment. The remaining soldiers, who suffered minor injuries, were returned to duty after initial checks.
In a statement, CENTCOM said it was not releasing details or the identities of the service members "out of respect for the families" of the victims. Their identities will be officially released 24 hours after next of kin are notified.
At least 15 US soldiers have been killed in retaliatory attacks since the start of the invasion of Iran on February 28. Six people were killed in a head-on collision between two refueling planes in Iraq. Six more US soldiers were killed in an Iranian drone attack on a command post in Kuwait.
In addition, a US Navy pilot died in a helicopter crash in the Arabian Sea earlier this month.
