Administration must act at our command during election: Jamaat leader Shahjahan

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Central Working Committee Member Shahjahan Chowdhury has said that the entire civil administration must be brought under Jamaat’s influence. The administration must act at Jamaat’s command.

He made the remarks on Saturday evening at a gathering of Jamaat’s election coordinators from Chattogram, held at the GEC Convention Centre in the port city.

Jamaat Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman was the chief guest at the event, although he was not present on stage when Shahjahan made these comments.

Expressing concern that “bags of money and weapons may enter the country from a neighbouring state” ahead of the upcoming national election, Shahjahan said, “Elections won’t be decided by people alone… In every constituency, all members of the administration must be brought under our authority. They must stand at our command, sit at our command, arrest at our command, and file cases at our command.”

Addressing a central leader present in the hall, Shahjahan further said, “In every constituency, primary school teachers must speak for the  ‘Daripalla’ (balance scale). All higher secondary teachers must speak for the symbol. The police must follow behind you.”

The event was presided over by Jamaat’s Chattogram city Ameer Muhammad Nazrul Islam. Special guests included central assistant secretary general Muhammad Shahjahan, central working committee member Ahsanullah, Chattogram regional team members Muhammad Zafar Sadeq, Mostafizur Rahman, Amiruzzaman, and Nurul Amin Chowdhury; along with Jamaat’s Chattogram South district Ameer Anwarul Alam Chowdhury and North district Ameer Alauddin Sikder.
