BNP demands arrest of killers of Chhatra Dal leader

Bangla Press Desk:   Leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organisations formed a human chain and held a rally in Chattogram city on Thursday, demanding the arrest of the killers of Chhatra Dal leader Mohammad Sajjad.

The protests were held in front of London Bakery on Bakolia Access Road.

BNP’s Chattogram South district unit former convener Abu Sufian was present as the chief guest at the programmes while Juba Dal former organising secretary Emdadul Haque Badsha was present as the key speaker.

Chattogram City BNP leaders Anwar Hossain Lipu, Nasir Uddin Chowdhury Nasim, Kamal Uddin, Ziaul Haque Mintu, Md Alauddin and Idris Sabuj were also present among others.

Mohammad Alam, father of the slain Chhatra Dal leader Sajjad, also spoke at the event.

Addressing the event, BNP leader Abu Sufian said those who used to remain involved in the politics of Juba League and Chhatra League have appeared in a new form.

They have established a reign of terror on Bakolia Access Road and are involved in all kinds of crimes, including extortion and looting, he said.

“We are receiving hundreds of complaints about them every day. We, including the mayor of the Chattogram City Corporation, have repeatedly requested the administration to take action against them. But instead of doing so, the administration is patronising them,” he alleged.

“Our activist Sajjad was killed for protesting their criminal activities. In order to protect the killers of Sajjad, an attempt is being made to divert the incident in a different direction with the help of some members of the administration,” Sufian added.
