Staff Reporter: Nur-E Saba Hakim, a popular Boston-based Bangladeshi dancer and cultural personality, passed away on Saturday, January 24, at a hospital in Boston (Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.). She had reportedly been battling multiple health complications for a prolonged period. Her sudden death has cast a shadow of grief over the Bangladeshi community in Boston.
Known for her dedication to classical dance and cultural work, Hakim was a well-respected figure in the Bangladeshi-American community. Her performances and cultural initiatives left a lasting impact on diaspora cultural life.
Her passing has been met with an outpouring of grief from artists, cultural activists, and community leaders, who have expressed deep sorrow and extended condolences to her bereaved family.
Nur-E Saba Hakim, a distinguished cultural figure and BUET-graduate engineer. Always smiling and gentle in manner, Saba was a former highly meritorious student of Viqarunnisa Noon School and Holy Cross College. Among Bangladeshi expatriates in the United States, she was widely known as a classical dancer and cultural organizer who made significant contributions to the social and cultural life of the community.
