Clash erupts at Bhuiyanpur rally: Kader Siddique escorted out under police protection
Bangla Press Desk:  Abdul Kader Siddique, president of the Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL), was escorted out of Bhuiyanpur, Tangail, under heavy police protection on Saturday evening after violence broke out at a rally of freedom fighters. The rally, held at the Bhuiyanpur Pilot High School ground, was organised by the 1971 Kaderia Bahini. Witnesses said members of Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal allegedly attacked a KSJL activist, the son of the party’s upazila president, just as Siddique was preparing to leave the event. According to accounts, Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal activists shouted anti-Siddique slogans near his car before turning violent. Police moved quickly to escort Siddique from the scene amid the chaos.
Siddique did not immediately comment on the incident. However, local Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal leaders claimed the rally had ties to Awami League affiliates, accusing Siddique of attempting to renew relations with what they called the “fascist Awami League.” They vowed to resist such efforts. Earlier in his speech, Siddique had criticized what he described as “Pakistani attitudes” still persisting in Bangladesh and accused certain groups of disrespecting freedom fighters and encouraging violence. The clash has heightened political tensions in Bhuiyanpur, with observers noting how the legacy of 1971 continues to fuel divisions in Bangladeshi politics. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
