I believe in the process of evolving: Partho Sheikh

Bangla Press Desk:   Partho Sheikh is one of the rising faces in Bangladesh’s television and OTT scene. Before making a name in acting, he had a promising start in sports-joining cricket in 2011 and playing for Dhaka Metro Under-16 and Under-19 teams. However, his dream of representing Bangladesh on the national cricket team came to an abrupt end in 2015 due to a spinal cord injury. Two years after bidding farewell to the sport, Partho found a new path in modeling and acting.

In a recent conversation with the Daily Sun, Partho Sheikh shared his journey from the cricket pitch to the world of entertainment, upcoming projects, and beyond.

Tell us your backstory for getting into showbiz

Cricket was my first love, but life had other plans. In 2017, I got my first break in modeling through an advertisement directed by Amitabh Reza. Interestingly, I got the opportunity while accompanying two friends to an audition. Since then, I have appeared in several commercials and gradually transitioned into acting.

Have you faced any particular struggles in your acting career?

I faced rejection in many auditions before getting any opportunity. However, I never let those rejections break me or shake my confidence. Instead, I chose to stay focused on what I truly wanted to do. The path I have taken has never been easy, it has been filled with challenges, disappointments, and lessons at every step. But I have always believed that perseverance is the key to growth. I don’t like to call it a ‘struggle’ because, for me, it’s not just about hardship, it’s about the journey of learning, improving, and moving closer to achieving my dreams.

As an actor, how do you define success?

For me, success is not measured by fame, awards, or popularity—it lies in the genuine appreciation of the audience. When people connect with my work, when they enjoy what I create and express their love for it, that’s what truly matters to me. Every bit of positive feedback reminds me why I chose this path in the first place. At the same time, I believe success is also a personal journey. If I can continue to grow as an actor, learning something new and improving my craft every single day, then I consider that a true achievement.

Among all your performances so far, which ones are you most proud of?

I love several works like “Karagar”, “Odrisshyo” and “Baaji”. Among them, “Baaji” is especially close to my heart, as it brings back cherished memories of my time with cricket.

What are you currently busy with?

I have multiple television and OTT projects for Valentine’s Day and Eid. I want to give the audience some good stories so that I choose the scripts accordingly. I also took a break to prepare myself. Additionally, I’m in talk for several big screen projects. Hopefully I will give good news later the year.

As a new generation of actors, where do you see yourself in the coming years?

I want to see myself as a more refined and polished version of who I’m today. I deeply believe in the process of evolving; both as an artiste and as a person. My goal is not just to become a better performer but also to become a more grounded, fulfilled, and compassionate human being. More than anything, I hope my audience continues to support me on this journey-their love, appreciation, and encouragement mean the world to me and inspire me to keep moving forward with even greater dedication.
