Bangla Press Desk: Iran's state-run Press TV reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Iranian army launched a coordinated missile and drone attack on US military infrastructure in Kuwait.
The main target of the operation was the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait. Tehran claimed that a C-RAM (Counter-Rocket, Artillery and Mortar) early warning radar system of the US military deployed there was successfully destroyed.
It is known that in addition to destroying the radar system, the drones also hit the air base's Patriot air defense system, drone hangars and fuel storage facilities. At the same time, Iran said that US military support centers in Camp Arifjan in Kuwait, Jordan and Bahrain were also targeted.
Tehran called the military action its right to self-defense. They claimed that this ‘Operation Sayekeh’ or ‘Nasr-2’ was carried out in response to the heavy airstrikes carried out by the US forces on their command centers in southern Iran and near Bandar Abbas.
Following the attack, the IRGC sent a stern warning to Kuwait and other Persian Gulf countries, which are currently helping to build bases for US troops. Tehran alleged that Washington was using Kuwaiti airspace and territory to launch aggressive attacks against Iran. In this situation, it also called on the general public in Kuwait to speak out against the US military presence.
Meanwhile, the attack caused considerable damage and disruption in Kuwait. Kuwaiti authorities said that the country’s airspace was temporarily closed due to the situation that arose. In addition to military installations, the missile hit a key water treatment plant, causing a huge fire and injuring several workers.
Iranian state media has claimed to have released satellite images to support its claim that there is evidence of the destruction of US drone hangars and radar infrastructure. However, US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet officially confirmed the complete destruction of the radar system.
However, US officials have acknowledged that several US service members serving in the region have been injured in the ongoing counter-attacks over strategic control of the Strait of Hormuz. Source: Press TV.
