Bangla Press Desk: BNP joint secretary general Syed Emran Saleh Prince criticised Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday, saying the party was suffering from nervousness as it repeatedly changed its monogram.
Speaking as chief guest at Ward-2 BNP’s conference at Sumoniya Para Madrasa ground in Gazirvita union, he said, “They use Islam and the name of Allah for political purposes, but they do not hesitate to alter these symbols to win favour from hegemonic powers and foreign supporters. When criticised by devout Muslims, they remove them again. The people are watching this circus.”
He accused Jamaat of deceiving religious people by dropping Allah’s name and a Quranic verse on “establishing religion” from its monogram to appease external powers, while at the same time pretending to uphold Islamic values. “They even promise to Indian authorities that they will not enforce Sharia law if they come to power, despite telling religious Muslims otherwise,” he added.
Prince said Jamaat had become unbalanced in its political character for power.
