Jamaat forms new central committee for 2026-2028

Bangla Press Desk:  Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced its new central committee for the 2026–2028 term, reappointing Mia Golam Parwar as secretary general.

The committee was formed and sworn in during a virtual meeting of the party’s Central Majlis-e-Shura on Friday, presided over by party Ameer and Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Shafiqur Rahman.The announcement was made on the party’s verified official Facebook page.

The new structure includes four nayeb-e-ameer, seven assistant secretary generals, a 21-member Central Executive Council, a 59-member Central Majlis-e-Shura, and an 88-member Central Working Committee.

The party has also reorganised its activities by dividing the country into 14 organisational regions and appointing regional directors to strengthen operations.

The tenure of the new committee will end in 2028.

During the virtual meeting, Shafiqur selected office-bearers in consultation with members of the Central Majlis-e-Shura and administered their oath.

The nayeb-e-ameer, secretary general, and assistant secretary generals attended the meeting in person. This full committee was announced nearly three months after Shafiqur was re-elected ameer on 2 November 2025.

The four Nayeb-e-Ameer are ATM Azharul Islam, Mojibur Rahman, Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and ANM Shamsul Islam.

The seven Assistant Secretary Generals are ATM Masum, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad, Abdul Halim, Muazzam Hossain Helal, Muhammad Shahjahan, and Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer.

The 21-member Central Executive Council includes senior leaders and members of parliament, among them ATM Azharul Islam, Mojibur Rahman, Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Mia Golam Parwar, ATM Masum, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Hamidur Rahman Azad, Abdul Halim, Muazzam Hossain Helal, Muhammad Shahjahan, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer, Abdur Rab, Saiful Alam Khan Milon, Principal Md Shahabuddin, Principal Md Izzat Ullah, Matiur Rahman Akand, Md Mobarak Hossain, Md Nurul Islam Bulbul, Mohammad Selim Uddin, Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud, and Dr Mohammad Rezaul Karim.The party highlighted women’s participation in its organizational structure as a positive development. The 88-member Central Working Committee includes 21 women, while the 59-member Central Majlis-e-Shura includes 17 women.

A five-member Central Election Commission has also been formed, with ATM Masum appointed as chief election commissioner. Other commissioners are Muazzam Hossain Helal, Abdur Rab, Mobarak Hossain, and AFM Abdus Sattar.

The country has been divided into 14 organisational regions with separate regional directors. Key appointments include Abdul Halim for Rangpur–Dinajpur, ATM Azharul Islam for Bogura, Rafiqul Islam Khan for Rajshahi, Mobarak Hossain for Kushtia–Jashore, Md Izzat Ullah for Khulna, Muazzam Hossain Helal for Barishal, Md Shahabuddin for Mymensingh, Mia Golam Parwar for Dhaka Metropolitan, Saiful Alam Khan Milon for Dhaka North, Abdur Rab for Dhaka South, Hamidur Rahman Azad for Faridpur, Ehsanul Mahbub Jubayer for Sylhet, ATM Masum for Cumilla–Noakhali, and Muhammad Shahjahan for Chattogram.

 

Party leaders expressed hope that the new committee and regional reorganisation would accelerate organisational activities and strengthen the party’s operations across Bangladesh.
