Khaleda, Tarique extend condolences to families of jet crash victims
  Bangla Press Desk:    BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and acting Chairman Tarique Rahman have expressed deep condolences to the families of victims who lost their lives in the tragic military jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka. Following their directive, BNP leaders visited several bereaved families across the country on Friday, offering support and condolence messages on behalf of the party’s top leadership. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir led a delegation to the Dhaka Cantonment residence of Flight Lieutenant Taukir Islam, who was killed in the crash. He conveyed heartfelt condolences from Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman to Taukir’s parents and his wife, Aksha Ahmed Nijhum.
Fakhrul was accompanied by former Air Force chief and BNP Vice Chairman Air Vice Marshal (retd) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury, former Army officer Major General (retd) Fazle Elahi Akbar and Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, chief coordinator of Khaleda Zia’s security team. During the visit, the BNP delegation expressed the party’s solidarity with the family and pledged to stand by them during this difficult time. Another BNP delegation, led by Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, visited the home of siblings Nazia and Nafir, two students who died in the crash, in Turag. Rizvi said that both Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman were deeply moved by the loss of innocent lives and have been monitoring the situation closely since the incident.
“There can be no greater grief than the pain of losing a child,” Rizvi said. He also consoled the siblings’ father, Ashraful Alam, who emotionally requested that no one be buried in their graves after two years. Rizvi assured him that the matter would be brought to the attention of the authorities concerned. BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Thursday visited the family of Nusrat Jahan Anika, a third-grade student who was killed in the recent Bangladesh Air Force jet crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara.
He visited their residence in the capital’s Diabari area and offered condolences on behalf of Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. Other senior BNP leaders, including Standing Committee members Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku and AZ Zahid Hossain, as well as Vice Chairman Shamsuzzaman Dudu, also visited the families of several victims to express sympathy on behalf of the party and its top leadership. In Brahmanbaria, BNP Joint Secretary General Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee visited the grave of teacher Masuka Begum Nipu in Sohagpur village of Ashuganj. He laid a wreath and offered prayers for her soul before meeting her family to deliver condolence messages from Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman. Local BNP leaders, including district unit president Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal and General Secretary Sirajul Islam Siraj, accompanied him.
Masuka Begum lost her life in the blaze while heroically trying to save her students after the plane crash. M anwhile, Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal President Afroza Abbas visited the grave of another teacher, Mehreen Chowdhury, in Bogulagari village of Jaldhaka, Nilphamari. She placed a wreath and met Mehreen’s family members to offer condolences on behalf of the BNP leadership. Mahila Dal Joint General Secretary Helen Zerin Khan and other local leaders from Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat were also present. Mehreen Chowdhury died while attempting to rescue children trapped in a classroom during the fire following the crash.This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
