‘Let’s rebuild Bangladesh together’
Bangla Press Desk: BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Tuesday appealed to voters across the country to support his party in forming a government that will rebuild Bangladesh through the implementation of their state reform plan. “Through my leaders and activists, and through journalists, I want to say this to all the people of the country: if you vote for the ‘Paddy Sheaf’, we will build the country together,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a youth conference organised by the Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal and Chhatra Dal on the occasion of International Youth Day. The event took place at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka. The BNP acting chairman joined the programme virtually from London. He stressed that the era of politics based on conventional slogans is over, and that the people now seek actionable plans and politics of change.
“For this reason, BNP is developing clear action plans for every sector of the country and promises to implement them if it comes to power.” “The people are demanding change from conventional politics. Their aspirations are no longer mere promises, but the actual delivery of those promises. That is why we are working on how to implement plans across each sector,” he added. Tarique Rahman urged the nation’s youth to present BNP’s people-centred action plans openly to the public. “If the people’s verdict is to give BNP the opportunity to govern, we will implement these plans in phases in the coming days.”
He elaborated on the party’s vision for building a technology-based youth society. “BNP’s politics is centred on creating employment opportunities for the future; providing jobs to the unemployed is our main goal.” Highlighting the demographic dividend, he said, “When more than half of a country’s population is of working age, that is an opportunity. Bangladesh’s current population can be the driving force behind the country’s development because the majority are of working age. We just need to convert this population into a skilled workforce.” “This is why BNP believes that by developing the country’s youth through technical education and skill-building, the demographic dividend can become a true blessing. We aim to develop a workforce skilled in technology while also encouraging young people to pursue sports,” the BNP leader explained.
He added they want to nurture young talents who can excel in sports alongside cultural activities for future generations. “Therefore, we can include sports education in the curriculum to help establish sports as a profession.” Planned lies being spread against BNP: Fakhrul Speaking at the event, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir accused opponents of deliberately spreading falsehoods against the party. “Since BNP is the potential leader of the future, and will run the country, there is a concerted effort to undermine it through propaganda,” he said.
Mirza Fakhrul recalled their collective struggle against fascism for 15 years. “We have suffered imprisonment together; our leader Khaleda Zia was detained for six years, and our leader is still in exile. Not a single family within our party remains untouched by persecution.” He stressed the need to awaken the country’s people to the importance of state reform. “If necessary, we must reach out to villages, towns, markets, riverbanks, farms, and ports to engage with people and inspire them. That will be our task.” The BNP Secretary General said party members must ensure the success of Tarique Rahman’s revolution, which is the most important goal. “We firmly believe that the younger generation will make this revolution successful.” “If we can win the hearts of the people and bring them over to our side in the elections, then the key condition to form Tarique Rahman’s government and implement the 31-point plan will be fulfilled,” he added. Ganasanghati Andolan Coordinator Junayed Saki stated that Bangladesh stands at a crossroads. “Our youth must come forward. We intend to dismantle the fascist state system and move towards democracy.” “You all must realise the important role you have in this mission. Young people must build the Bangladesh of the future. Prepare yourselves,” he urged. National Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Bobby Hajjaj noted that BNP has taken a strong stance against extortion and has acted against many leaders and activists involved. “Extortion will not be tolerated again; this should be the pledge of the ‘New Bangladesh’ on International Youth Day,” he said. The discussion was chaired by Swechchhasebak Dal President SM Jilani, and moderated by Jubo Dal General Secretary Nurul Islam Nayan and Chhatra Dal General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir. BNP Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, Student Affairs Secretary Rakibul Islam Bakul, and Adviser to the Acting Chairman Mahdi Amin also spoke among others.
