Madrid Says Trump’s Attacks Are Part of Normal Politics

Bangla Press Desk:  Trump said at the NATO summit on Wednesday that he wants to cut all trade with Spain.

The Spanish prime minister's office has responded that Madrid was taking Trump's comments calmly and treating them as "business as usual."

Spain has no intention of changing its excellent social, cultural and economic relationship with the United States, the statement said.

It listed three points as worth recalling:

"1. The United States runs a trade surplus with Spain (that is, it benefits more from the trade relationship than we do).

"2. The European Union is a customs and trade union in which individual member states cannot be singled out, as the European Commission itself has underlined on several occasions.

"3. Economic ties are forged by private companies, not governments."
