Shailendra reveals the film for which Salman took 1 taka as remuneration
Bangla Press Desk: Bollywood's famous actor Salman Khan has given many popular films in his long career. However, he surprised everyone by playing the role of an HIV-positive young man in the film 'Phir Milenge' released in 2004.
Recently, in a media interview, the producer of the film, Shailendra Singh, said that Salman took only 1 rupee as remuneration for acting in this public awareness film.
Just as there is controversy about Salman Khan's personal life and temperament, he is also praised for his charity and humanitarian work. His own charity organization 'Being Human' has been working for the education and treatment of underprivileged children for many years. Those concerned see the symbolic acceptance of 1 rupee for acting in the film 'Phir Milenge' as an expression of that humanitarian approach.
Shailendra Singh said that at that time, working on sensitive issues like HIV or AIDS in Bollywood was quite risky. While big stars were busy maintaining their heroic image on screen, Salman agreed to play this completely different character. He did it mainly to create awareness about this disease among the common people and especially the youth. The producer said that while Salman was the superman of Bollywood at that time, he played a character whose outcome was death. Usually, popular heroes want to be the central character from the beginning to the end of the film. But Salman did the film only for a noble purpose, without thinking about his 'larger than life' image, said Shailendra Singh.
