Bangla Press Desk:   BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to visit several northern districts on a four-day tour between 11 and 14 January to attend programmes seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for his mother and late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

During the tour, he will also pay tributes at the graves of those killed in the July 2024 mass uprising.

BNP on Wednesday formally informed the Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat, as well as the concerned deputy commissioners and returning officers, about the visit through a letter signed by Tarique’s personal secretary ABM Abdus Sattar.

The letter assured that the Election Commission’s code of conduct would not be

violated under any circumstances during the tour.

According to the itinerary, Tarique will begin his tour on 11 January by exchanging views with party leaders and activists in Gazipur, Tangail and Sirajganj before proceeding to Bogura.

On 12 January, he will take part in programmes in Rangpur, Dinajpur and Thakurgaon, starting from Bogura.

In Rangpur, he is scheduled to pay tribute and offer prayers at the grave of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, who was killed during the 2024 July uprising.

On 13 January, the BNP acting chairman will hold meetings and exchange views with party leaders and activists in Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat and Kurigram.

On 14 January, he will join several programmes in Rangpur and Bogura before returning to Dhaka.

During the tour, Tarique will also visit the graves of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, Taiba Majumder and other July martyrs and individuals who lost their lives in the democratic movement, and will pay courtesy visits to their families.
