Bangla Press Desk: The United States has said it will not lift its blockade on Iranian ports until a deal is reached with Tehran, with President Donald Trump insisting the pressure is “severely damaging” Iran’s economy.
The remarks came as a temporary US-Iran ceasefire is set to expire on Wednesday, with uncertainty over whether a second round of peace talks will take place in Pakistan, where security has been tightened ahead of a possible meeting.
In a characteristically combative post, Trump claimed the US was winning the conflict "by a lot" and dismissed reports from mainstream media outlets as "fake news”.
He suggested that the Iranian military has been severely crippled, saying "their navy has been completely wiped out" and their air force has been forced onto "darker runways”.
Vice President JD Vance, expected to lead the US delegation, has not yet departed Washington, while Iran says it has not decided whether to attend.
