What's the problem with Poppy and her sister-in-law?
Bangla Press Desk: Poppy, a once popular actress of Dhallywood, has largely disappeared from the silver screen today. She has kept herself in hiding for fear of getting involved in family disputes and property-related troubles.
However, at that time, the actress made a storm on the silver screen. Despite being in hiding for a long time, Poppy has been threatened with death again. Recently, when the actress made a statement to the media regarding this, her nephew-in-law Tarek Ahmed Chowdhury sent a legal notice against Sadika Parvin Poppy on charges of spreading false information.
On Wednesday (November 26), Supreme Court lawyer Md. Ilias Ali Mandal sent the notice to Poppy's Khulna and Dhaka addresses by registered mail. Tarek Ahmed Chowdhury himself confirmed the matter to the media.
Poppy's nephew-in-law said, Sadika Parvin Poppy, a relative of my wife, has been spreading false information against me at various times, which is very sad. If she has any complaint, she can talk to the family or take legal action against us. But instead of doing that, he is spreading false and fabricated information in my name through various channels. That is why I have informed him of these matters legally.
Tarek Chowdhury said, he (Popi) had spread false information accusing me before. As a result, I have also filed a general diary against him at the police station.
The legal notice states that they have a family dispute over a property. That property was owned by Sadika Parveen Popi's late uncle, which was given as a gift to Tarek Ahmed Chowdhury's wife and her mother through a valid Heba deed. Therefore, they legally own the said property. My client is not a legal heir to the said property. And he has no possession, ownership or legal interest in the said property; the transfer and distribution of the property is completely governed by the said Heba deed and applicable inheritance laws. Despite the fact that the property dispute with my client has no legal or factual connection, the recipient of the notice has made completely false and defamatory allegations against my client in a program aired on Soi TV on November 21 and published them.
Regarding sending the legal notice to Poppy, lawyer Ilias Ali Mandal told the media that his client holds the highest position in a financial institution in Dhaka. His client Tarek Ahmed Chowdhury is the son-in-law of Sadika Parvin Poppy's late uncle, the late Mia Kabir Hossain. Poppy is related to him through marital ties.
He said that Poppy has said in the media that my client is preventing her from moving around in her own area and is doing this to deprive her of her share in the property.
It is worth noting that actress Poppy's complaint is that she purchased land from her uncle Kabir Hossain in 2007. However, her cousin Mukta and her husband Tarek Ahmed Chowdhury are in possession of that land. During the dictatorship, Tarek used to intimidate Awami League leaders and activists in various ways if they wanted to take over his property. He was even threatened that he would not be able to return alive if he went to Khulna. This month, when Poppy tried to take over his land again, his cousin's son-in-law Tarek threatened him by invoking the name of a BNP activist.
Poppy said that her son-in-law lived in their house as a log master. Later, he married his cousin Mukta and took over the landlord's house. Once, since he was under the umbrella of the Awami League, Tarek used to show his power and took over the land he had purchased.
After the government fell in the July 36 movement, Poppy wanted the purchased land back from Tarek. But it was of no use. Poppy said that he is being intimidated to take over the land again.
