Bangla Press Desk: Bangladesh's U-20 women's hockey team has become the champion of the Women's Junior AHF Cup. They defeated Kazakhstan 2-0 in the final in Muscat, Oman on Saturday. Bangladesh did not lose a single match in the entire tournament.
This victory is the first international title in the history of Bangladesh women's hockey. Earlier, the U-21 team was the runner-up in this tournament in 2024. Thanks to that result, they qualified to play in the Junior Asia Cup.
Bangladesh entered the final of this five-team tournament undefeated. They also defeated Kazakhstan 2-1 in the group stage. Bangladesh played brilliantly in the final as well and gave no chance to the opponent.
Irene Ria gave Bangladesh the lead with a field goal in the 15th minute of the match. She was later declared the 'Rising Star' of the tournament. Four minutes later, Nadira Ima doubled the lead by scoring from a penalty corner.
After that, there were no more goals in the remaining three quarters. In the end, Bangladesh won the title by holding on to a 2-0 lead. Captain Sharika Rimon received the final best player award.Source: jugantor
