Litton Das replaces Nurul Hasan as Rangpur Riders captain
Bangla Press Desk: Rangpur Riders have appointed Litton Das as their new captain for the remainder of the tournament, replacing Nurul Hasan Sohan, head coach Mickey Arthur confirmed on Friday following the team’s practice session at the academy ground of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Arthur said the decision was straightforward, given Litton’s standing in Bangladesh cricket and the authority he commands within the dressing room.
“Because he’s the national captain, it’s an easy choice,” Arthur said. “I love the way Litton approaches his cricket. He’s very aggressive, his mindset’s perfect. He’s a leader that everybody follows and respects, and I can see why he leads the Bangladesh team in T20 cricket.”
The Riders have endured a mixed campaign so far, and the coaching staff believe the leadership change can help the side find momentum as the tournament enters a crucial phase. Arthur stressed that Litton’s personality and intent were key factors behind the call.
“He brings clarity and energy,” Arthur said. “He plays with intent, he thinks positively, and those are the qualities we want to see reflected in the whole group.”
The former Pakistan and Australia coach also reflected on Rangpur’s recent performances, admitting that the team had not been bold enough in key moments.
“We’ve probably been a little bit timid in those three games,” Arthur said. “But we’ve got a real opportunity here to make some memories and to make some history as a team together.”
