Thakurgaon-1 by-election: Outsiders ordered to leave the area
Bangla Press Desk: A by-election for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency is scheduled for October 29. In light of this, the Election Commission (EC) has issued a directive stating that individuals who are neither residents nor voters of the constituency must not remain within the electoral area from 8:00 AM on October 27 until 4:00 PM on October 30.
A letter regarding this, signed by the EC’s Senior Assistant Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam, was sent to the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police of Thakurgaon today, Sunday (October 25).
The letter states, "To ensure that the by-election for the vacant seat in the Thakurgaon-1 constituency—part of the 13th National Parliament—is conducted in an impartial, peaceful, and influence-free manner, the Election Commission has decided that, with the exception of individuals involved in the electoral process, those authorized by the Election Commission, and residents or voters of the constituency, no other persons shall remain within the electoral area from 48 hours before the start of polling until 24 hours after the conclusion of polling—that is, from 8:00 AM on October 27 to 4:00 PM on October 30."
Accordingly, you are requested to take the necessary measures to implement this decision made by the Election Commission.
