The government will deliver a peaceful and impartial election: Mir Shahe Alam
Bangla Press Desk: State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam has stated that the government will ensure peaceful, free, fair, and impartial local elections.
He mentioned that the by-election for the Thakurgaon-1 constituency—vacated by Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir—is set to take place tomorrow in a peaceful atmosphere. In this constituency, the BNP-nominated candidate, Mirza Faisal, is competing against other candidates in a peaceful manner; there is no bias involved.
He added that, following this trend, the local government elections—which are set to begin in January—will also be free, fair, and impartial.
He made these remarks while speaking to journalists at Banani Bidyaniketan School today, Wednesday (October 28), on the occasion of Global Handwashing Day.
He further stated that the government will also ensure that the Union Parishad elections are conducted peacefully. The government has no intention of depriving the people of their right to vote.
