UNO conference in December, DC conference in January
BanglaPress Desk: The government is planning to organize a conference for Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) for the first time this coming December. Meanwhile, the annual Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 3 next year.
According to sources from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the date for the UNO conference has yet to be finalized.
Confirming details regarding both events, PMO sources stated that the Prime Minister has consented to inaugurate the DC conference on January 31 at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium. It is also planned that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the UNO conference once its date is finalized.
During the annual DC conference, separate sessions are held for each ministry. Months prior to the event, the government invites proposals from Deputy Commissioners concerning challenges, potential opportunities, development projects, policy matters, and various regional or national issues specific to their respective districts.
Subsequently, the Cabinet Division finalizes the list of proposals in consultation with the relevant ministries. These proposals are then discussed in the presence of the ministers, advisors, and secretaries of the respective ministries.
As this is the first time a UNO conference is being organized, sources indicated that the final format for the event has not yet been determined. However, the field-level administration has been facing various challenges since the recent mass uprising. Furthermore, given the issues that have emerged at the field level regarding the government’s 'Family Card' program, officials anticipate that these matters may feature prominently in the conference discussions.
