Bangladesh Women suffer a 3–0 defeat to Thailand
Bangla Press Desk: After nearly three and a half months away from the field, the Bangladesh women’s football team made their return, but couldn’t make it a memorable one. Peter Butler’s side suffered a 3–0 defeat against Thailand in the first of two FIFA international friendlies on Friday at the Thonburi University Football Ground in Bangkok.
Bangladesh trailed by one goal in the first half, which Orapin Waenngoen scored before conceding two more goals by Pattaranan Aupachai and Saowalak Pengngam in the second half. Coach Butler fielded a strong lineup featuring Ritu Porna Chakma, Tohura Khatun, and Afeida Khandaker, but the team couldn’t avenge their 9–0 loss to Thailand 12 years ago.
This was Bangladesh’s first international match since July, when they qualified for the AFC Asian Cup main round in Myanmar. The second friendly will be held on Monday, and according to the Bangladesh Football Federation, it will be broadcast live, though the channel is yet to be confirmed.
