Butler urges realism as Bangladesh aim to bounce back

Bangla Press Desk:   Thailand’s bench strength stood out clearly in the first friendly, where their depth and quality made a strong impression as Bangladesh gears up for the second FIFA International Friendly tomorrow (27 October) at the 72nd Anniversary Stadium in Bangkok.

In a video message provided by BFF, head coach Peter James Butler reflected on the gulf in experience between the two sides, acknowledging Thailand’s overall quality while stressing the need for Bangladesh to remain realistic and professional in their approach.

"We are not at the level of Thailand. We have to be honest with ourselves. They're a very, very good team, and they'll show that. They'll probably put out a completely different team. Sometimes you're only as strong as your bench. And look at their bench and they got another team on the bench," Butler said.

He also emphasized that success requires building depth and consistency, not just ambition, and noted the added challenges of playing away from home. Butler also reminded everyone that Bangladesh has not played a home fixture since facing Chinese Taipei, a factor that impacts performance.

"I think what you have to take into consideration is that we have not had any home fixtures since Chinese Taipei. Now, you can talk about beating teams away from home. Winning games away from home, there's a lot of variables which come into play," he concluded.

With these lessons in mind, Bangladesh will look to respond with greater resilience and structure in tomorrow’s match, aiming to show improvement and fight despite the tough opposition.
