Cuba, Morshed called up to Bangladesh squad amid injury concerns
Bangla Press Desk: Two new faces have joined Bangladesh’s national football camp as Bashundhara Kings’ Cuba Mitchell and Fortis FC’s Morshed Ali were added to the 27-member preliminary squad on Wednesday.
The camp, which began on October 30, has been running for five days before the fresh call-ups were made.
Cuba, formerly with English club Sunderland, had been on Bangladesh’s radar since June, but passport and formalities delayed his debut.
Even after signing for Bashundhara Kings, head coach Javier Cabrera left him out of the September and October FIFA windows, citing lack of regular playing time. Surprisingly, just four days after Cabrera’s remarks, Cuba has now been included in the national setup.
Both Cuba and Morshed’s inclusion comes as a response to injury concerns, with forward Ibrahim and defender Rahmat Mia reportedly struggling.
Due to the ongoing Asian Archery Championships at the National Stadium, the team will train at Kings Arena on Sunday afternoon.
