Recurve and Compound Archers Begin Battle in Sunday Qualifiers
Bangla Press Desk: The familiar sight of the National Stadium at Dhaka has turned into something entirely different this week. Gone are the goalposts, center circle, corner flags, and sponsor boards that usually define Bangladesh’s iconic football venue. In their place now stand neat lanes drawn across the lush green turf, rows of target boards, and a line of White tents along the athletics track — all set for the 24th Teer Asian Archery Championships.
While the grand curtain officially rose on Saturday, the real battle begins Sunday with the qualification rounds. Saturday’s session was dedicated solely to practice, giving participating archers from across Asia the chance to acclimatize to the venue and conditions.
According to the organizing committee, Sunday’s events will open with the recurve men’s and compound women’s individual qualification rounds from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by any necessary shoot-offs at 11:45 AM.
The afternoon session, running from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, will feature the recurve women’s and compound men’s qualification rounds, with shoot-offs scheduled for 5:45 PM if needed.
All events are being conducted in accordance with World Archery regulations. The action will continue at the same venue on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with the intense Eliminations Round matches.
The grand finale will then move to the Army Stadium — with the Compound Finals scheduled for 13 November and the Recurve Finals on 14 November, where the continent’s best archers will battle for glory and the championship medals.
