Rubaba Dowla appointed as BCB director
Bangla Press Desk: Corporate personality and women's sports organiser Rubaba Dowla has been appointed as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
Rubaba is the second female to hold this position to serve as a board director in BCB's history, following Monowara Anis Minu in 2007.
A letter was formally sent to the BCB on Monday nominating her as a councilor of the National Sports Council (NSC).
The inclusion of Rubaba Dowla has completed the BCB board of directors comprising 25 members.
Previously, businessman Isfak Ahsan was appointed to the position.
The NSC decided to nominate Rubaba following Isfaq’s voluntary resignation, after his affiliation with the Awami League and his candidacy in the controversial 2024 elections came to light.
Rubaba is currently the country director for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan at multinational company Oracle. She previously worked in an executive role for Grameenphone and Airtel.
Rubaba has been associated with sports for a long time. From 2009 to 2015, she served as the president of the Bangladesh Badminton Federation, while also serving as a board member of Bangladesh Special Olympics.
