Mymensingh set for NCL debut this season
Bangla Press Desk: The 27th edition of the National Cricket League (NCL) will welcome a new contender this season, as Mymensingh are set to make its debut in Bangladesh’s premier first-class competition, replacing Dhaka Metro, according to the updated schedule released by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
BCB Tournament Committee Chairman AhsanIqbalChowdhury told Daily Sun that players who previously represented Dhaka Metro will now feature for Mymensingh, alongside local cricketers from the region.
“It will be a mix,” AhsanIqbal said. “Since we don’t have much time, selectors will look into it and form a squad combining players from both regions.”
The upcoming 2025–26 NCL season will begin on October 25 and run until December 10, featuring eight divisional teams: Sylhet, Khulna, Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Barishal, Chattogram and the newly included Mymensingh.
Mymensingh will begin their first-class journey against Sylhet at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Outer Ground on October 25. Their inclusion marks a significant step toward expanding regional representation in Bangladesh’s traditional first-class structure.
All matches in the tournament will be four-day fixtures, played across multiple venues including Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi, Cox’s Bazar, Bogura, and Mirpur.
