Tigresses face 228-run chase against New Zealand

Bangla Press Desk: A disciplined bowling performance from Bangladesh has set up a tense run chase after they restricted New Zealand to 227 for 9 in their ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup match at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati on Friday.

After reducing New Zealand to 38 for 3, Bangladesh was challenged by a 112-run stand between Sophie Devine (63) and Brooke Halliday (69). However, the Tigresses struck back, taking wickets at regular intervals to prevent a late explosion.

Spinner Rabeya Khan led the attack with 3 for 30, expertly supported by Nahida Akter and Fahima Khatun in the middle overs, who picked up one wicket each. Marufa Akter and Nishita Akter Nishi also contributed a wicket apiece to the tally.

Bangladesh now requires 228 runs to secure a landmark victory, a target that will test their batting lineup and keep their World Cup hopes alive. This article was originally published on Daily Sun.
